We had the best mini vacation June 10th and 11th. We went to Linville Falls. We camped at Linville Falls campground. Wonderful site!! It was perfect! The weather was beautiful and no yucky bugs!!
It was a fun day! Caleb got off work early, so we packed up the car the night before so I would only have to worry about getting the food and the kids in the car the day of. I packed up the car and headed off to get Caleb from work. We were so excited!!
The drive was GORGEOUS! I love the mountains. Thankfully, no one got car sick or too much road rage ;)
The site we chose was right next to the playground area which was perfect! When setting up/breaking down camp one of us would stay at our campsite while the other took the kids and played at the playground. The kids did help a little with setting up and breaking down.
I love all the green!
It wasn't a very long drive, about 2.5 hours. The campground was so cute!!
I loved it.
I loved it.
It was really easy to find the campground and check in and find our campsite.
Just behind these trees and up the hill was the playground area. It was the perfect site for our little family! Close to the playground, and also close to the bathroom access (which is a must with a little toddler!)
Here are the stairs up to the bathroom area. It was really nice and cute.
Exploring the campground.
Of course, Cannon is running like a crazy person! haha
Adelaide wanted to hold Lydia too :)
Here was the playground. The kids loved it!
After exploring the campground we came back and got out our cook stove and made some hot dogs, baked beans and cheetos. We all enjoyed the easy quick dinner, setting up camp and then went and played on the playground. Caleb had randomly brought our badminton rackets and there was actually a net already set up! We played together for a bit and then we invited another couple to join us. It was a blast! After playing, we went back to our camp site and made a fire and s'mores :)
Family Camping! Woo!
enjoying the fire
s'moring it up
Cannon pretty much just ate his marshmallow raw. Chubby cheeks full of mallows!
There is something so…mesmerizing, majestic, enchanting about watching a fire.
Cannon went to bed pretty well, but Adelaide had a bit of a rough time going to sleep. It was funny because Cannon kept asking us to go out of the tent. He loves sleeping in a tent! After getting Adelaide all settled down and asleep, Caleb and I went back out to the fire and enjoyed some nice, outside quiet time in the wilderness. It was LOVELY! The kids did really well and slept through the night. We didn't even put the fly on our tent so it was nice to have it all open. It got a bit chilly, but nothing to complain about :)
It was Adelaide's and Lydia's first time camping. They did so well!
Saturday morning we had a delicious breakfast: pancakes, eggs, and bacon! Mmmm!
I don't know where he gets it, but he wanted to put a pancake on his head….
so we all just joined in.
We forgot the night before to use that powder that makes the fire different colors, so we did it for the morning fire. Pretty cool!

After breakfast and breaking down camp, we went back and played on the playground before heading to the actual waterfalls and Linville Caverns.
Jumping off the ship into daddy's arms
The falls were only about 5 minutes or so from the campground. It was wonderful weather and the hike was easy enough for the kids (and for us when we had to carry one or two of the kids at a time).
Made it the falls! The kids were having a blast and being so goofy. It was fun to see them enjoying the good ole' outdoors.
She was out cold.
We had lunch by the falls and we found a little critter friend.
It was actually kind of creepy…
The kids loved climbing on all the rocks.
Sometimes you have to hold up a tree…
They LOVED climbing all over the rocks.
Waiting in line to enter the caverns….despite their bored faces, they did really well waiting in the line.
After visiting the caverns, we headed home.
